Keith Reeve Achieves 45 Years Outstanding Service

Radio Brockley trustee Keith Reeve has reached another huge landmark at Radio Brockley, as he was presented with an award for 45 years of outstanding service London’s longest-running hospital radio station. He was given the award by one of Radio Brockley’s founder members Barry Cobden (pictured alongside Keith).

Keith first joined the station back in 1977, having been a patient at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. During his time at RB his achievements and contribution have been enormous. He became the station’s treasurer in 1982 and has remained in the post ever since. He’s been a trustee of the station for over 32 years, leading a team through some tough challenges including advancement in technology, studio rebuilds, hospital redevelopment, and even a threat of closure many years ago.

Technically, he has led virtually all of our upgrade projects over the last 30 years – including helping us to become one of the first hospital radios in the UK to broadcast on the hospital’s Wi-Fi Spark service, and he has since advised other hospital radios on how they can set up a similar system. As a result of this and many other achievements, he went on to win the prestigious John Witney Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hospital Radio at the Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) awards in 2016.

As a presenter, he led the station’s longest-running weekday show in the station’s history. The Thursday Show, which ran for over 25 years, and was largely been co-ordinated by Keith since the very first week.

Now, after 45 years, Keith has not only continued to support Radio Brockley, but is now also a Volunteer Coordinator for the RNOH. He continues to present “Decade Delights: The 1970s”, and e’s also the narrator for the “Searching For The Grey Lady – a Ghost at the RNOH” podcasts.

From everyone at Radio Brockley, well done Keith!
