Dancing Queen Tops 2025 Request Chart
“Dancing Queen” by Abba was confirmed as the most requested song of 2025 by patients and staff of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, to give Abba the double on the request chart, having also been confirmed as our most requested artist of the year. It’s the first time since 2017 – when Ed Sheeran topped both charts – that our top artist has also had the most requested song. It’s also the second time “Dancing Queen” has been our annual number one, having first topped our chart in 2018. It was a close runner-up in 2024.
This year’s runner-up was 2024’s number one – “Hotel California” by the Eagles. The track had been in the lead for most of the year but was pipped at the most and stopped from being only the third track to have made it to our number one two years in a row (the previous ones were “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt, and “Someone Like You” from Adele)
In third place was “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel – equalling it’s previous highest position from 2018.
Two recent tracks from Beyonce (9) and Lady Gaga with Bruno Mars (10) made gains this year into our annual Top 10.
We also had two brand new tracks from 2025 in the Top 20 – with “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter (14) and “Ordinary” from Alex Warren (19).
Alan Joyce introduced the countdown on Radio Brockley for the 34th year in a row, with live posts on Instagram being sent out by Macie Lewis.
