New Presenter Rebecca Hosts Regular Weekday Evening Show
Radio Brockley has a new presenter. Rebecca Lewis joined Radio Brockley at the start of the year, and has quickly learned the ropes to become a regular host of one of the station’s weekday evening programmes. You can now hear her presenting “That Was The Year That Was” on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday evenings from 7pm.
The show, which also features programmes by Keith Reeve and the late Paul Downer, plays hits and headlines from a featured year – from the 1950s to the 1990s. Rebecca is a fan of the 70s and 80s in particular, and jumped at the chance to play some great tunes and dig out some musical trivia.
Rebecca has also hosted an edition of Brockley News, featuring the presentation by the OPUS group at the RNOH. You can hear that episode on our podcast channel. You can expect lots more programmes from Rebecca in the months ahead. Meanwhile here’s a bit more about her:
Q. Why did you decide to join Radio Brockley?
A. I joined Radio Brockley as I really want to pursue my career as a radio presenter, but with no clue where to begin I thought volunteering was the best way to start! I had heard great things about Radio Brockley, through Pat Sharp- a current radio presenter and an ex-Radio Brockley volunteer. I began volunteering with Radio Brockley in January, with their fantastic and committed team, they were really able to support me in getting the tools to begin contributing to Radio Brockley.
Q. What are you looking forward to doing at Radio Brockley?
A. I am really excited to bring my own creative flare to Radio Brockley and eventually, I hope I will be able to bring my very own unique show to the station… so watch this space. My dream show would be called ‘Generation Gap’ and it would bring two generations together sharing music that meant something to them when they were at certain ages and points in their life, whilst also sharing news stories from the two separate years.
Q. Why did you want to present “That Was The Year That Was”?
A. Although I am 23, all my favourite music comes from 1970s and 1980s and so presenting the show gives me the opportunity to engage more with the music and have my own private jam session. I also am learning so much about the specific years I am focusing on, and I am now proud to say that I am THAT annoying person that can spout random facts and trivia about songs, artists, and headline news from over 30 years ago.
