SCT Hour features Mr Rob Pollock

The SCT Hour returned with a brand new programme recently, and featured an interview with Mr Rob Pollock. The programme plays out on Radio Brockley every Wednesday night at 9pm, and is hosted by Sarah Wright, the head of fundraising for the Skeletal Cancer Trust.

Mr Pollock was appointed as a consultant at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in 2004. He specialises in hip and knee surgery as well as bone and soft tissue tumours. In the most recent episode of the SCT Hour, Mr Pollock talks about life at the RNOH during the pandemic, how he came to be a Sarcoma Surgeon, his work as a Trustee and what his patients’ mean to him. Mr Pollock describes helping patients through their cancer care as “a partnership – the surgeon and the patient are on a journey together and you will leave no stone left unturned in trying to help them.” Mr Pollock also finds time to fundraise for SCT and completed a gruelling full Iron Man and raised thousands of pounds for the charity. “For many patients, although there is light at the end of the tunnel, it is a very long tunnel and the pain I feel when running, swimming and cycling is nothing compared to what they are going through. That was my motivation – never give up, anything is possible.” – Rob Pollock
