Alpha Sessions Welcome More Amazing Guests

Radio Brockley’s “new music” show, the Alpha Sessions has continued to welcome many new and amazing people through the door since it’s marathon 10th anniversary event last October. During that weekend we welcomed 19 artists through the doors at Radio Brockley to chat and perform live in the studio, with the whole event streamed on Facebook live as well as being broadcast on Radio Brockley. You can now watch the sessions back on our YouTube channel by clicking here:

The show, hosted by Emma and Alan Joyce, plays out on Radio Brockley on Friday evenings at 8pm and on Sundays at 6pm. However you can also listen to and watch their interviews and live sessions via the show’s YouTube channel, which has now had over 8,800 views.

Here are the artists who have been to the Radio Brockley studios over the last few months:

Matthew is a 24 year-old singer-songwriter who has been delighting audiences in London, Essex and beyond with his collection of self penned songs. His debut studio album ‘Top of the tree’ was released in June 2015 and only took a day for the album to break into the iTunes Top 100 Singer/Songwriter Album Chart. He was hailed as “A Rising Star” by presenter Janice Long.

Jazz, soul and pop singer Anna Aarons is a singer-songwriter who released her first single in 2018. However she has also built up a big following as an Amy Winehouse tribute act. Her show “In Memory Of Amy” is now in its fourth year, having sold out venues such as Pizza Express Holborn.

London-based musician Danny Toeman channels the golden era of the genre with ‘neo-vintage’ style; simultaneously drawing comparisons to greats like James Brown alongside contemporary hits such as Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed. He released his first album in 2014, and has some new material due out later this year.

Erika has provided backing vocals, keyboards & percussion for Skunk Anansie, and has toured extensively with MIKA as his backing singer and recorded a guest vocal on two tracks with #1 UK artist, Bastille. In November 2018 Erika released her ‘Bugeisha’ EP through Pledgemusic. This is the final EP of a trilogy of Eps ‘Onna-Bugeisha’ (female samurai), ‘Onna’ (woman) & ‘Bugeisha’ (the art of war).

Everyone will soon be talking about Lily Agnès. She’s a 19-year old singer-songwriter from London who says her influences include Lianne Le Havas. She released her first single “Year Or Two” last year and has more new material coming out later this year. She has played a number of gigs including the Hospital Club in Covent Garden.
