Brockley News Programme Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Radio Brockley’s regular news programme, Brockley News, has been marking its 10 year anniversary with a series of special programmes looking back over some of the highlights since 2010.

The programme, which was originally presented and produced by Alan Joyce, has covered some huge moments for the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital, including two royal openings (Bolsover Street in 2010, and The Stanmore Building in 2019), celebrity interviews (including Nicholas Parsons, Lorraine Kelly and Max Whitlock), hospital fundraisers such as the Buttercup Walk, awards ceremonies including the RNOH Staff Awards, and numerous inspiring stories by staff and supporters of the hospital.

The programme was originally launched as a weekly half hour show before Bedside Bingo on Sunday evenings. Now, there are daily extended updates, with the shows being available to download via podcast on major podcast sites – attracting hundreds of listeners.

The programme also now has a range of guest presenters and interviewers including Ron Laver, Keith Reeve, and more recently Rebecca Lewis.

Founder Alan Joyce says “I’m so pleased and proud that this weekly programme has not only brought together inspiring stories from across the RNOH and its associated charities, but has also helped us to be recognised in the national hospital radio awards for the quality of our speech packages”.
