Elvis Presley Stays Top on December 2019 Request Chart
Having been confirmed as the most requested artist for the whole of 2019, Elvis Presley rounded off the year as the most requested artist for the fourth consecutive month, as chosen by patients of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He was the monthly number one five times in total last year. However Queen, who were runners-up in December, were also close runners-up in the annual request chart as well. Had they reached the annual number one, it would have been the first time they topped our poll since 1992, soon after Freddie Mercury died. Michael Buble climbed to the monthly number three, helped by some of his festive hits. The Beatles and Rod Stewart rounded off the Top five.
The most requested song of the month was “Last Christmas” by Wham! It was one of a number of festive hits in our monthly Top 10, which also included Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, Chris Rea with “Driving Home For Christmas”, and Michael Buble with “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas”.
