Radio Brockley Wins Gold for HBA Station Of The Year 2020!!

Radio Brockley has once again triumphed at the annual Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) awards, winning the Gold award for Station Of The Year for the third time in five years. The awards were originally due to take place in Bolton at the end of March, but the Hospital Broadcasting Association, which represents hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasters across the UK, took the decision to cancel the ceremony due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The winning Radio Brockley entry received high praise from the judges, who commented:
“This is incredible hospital radio of the highest quality. From royal visits to local elections, the station appears embedded in both hospital and community life. There is considered presentation by highly talented volunteers who are obviously passionate about their craft and supporting the patients recovery. This was – according to the judges – a brilliantly textured entry, showing the huge diversity of content the station produces.

The RNOH also sent a message of praise on their Facebook page, saying:
“The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is delighted for the whole of the Radio Brockley team, and also for the positive news this brings, particularly at this difficult and challenging time”.

Radio Brockley was also nominated in two other categories – Best Speech Package (Caroline Keating and Keith Reeve for their RNOH rooftop package), and Best Specialist Music Show for “Bedside Broadway” with Sophie Horrocks.

The awards highlight the hard work and dedication of hospital, health and wellbeing broadcasters from stations all across the country.
