Radio Brockley Prepares to Celebrate 60th Birthday

London’s longest running radio station, Radio Brockley, will soon be celebrating it’s landmark 60th birthday and we have a number of special events coming soon to mark the event.

The station first went on air on 2nd October 1966, after former members of Edgware Radio decided to set up a radio station at the RNOH. The original studio was set up in an air-raid shelter next to Ward 1, and after a couple of years another air-raid shelter was found next to Ward 4 (which still exists today).

Radio Brockley moved to its current home back in 1971, and after a number of expansions and refurbs, continues to provide a service to patients and staff all these years later.

Members past and present will be gathering for a special reunion party on Saturday 19 September. If you’re an ex-member yourself and would like more details, email studio@radiobrockley.org or contact us via our social media channels.

We will then be broadcasting a 3-day live programme event from Friday 02 October to Sunday 04 October featuring Radio Brockley members from the last 60 years coming back to tell their stories and revive old shows.
