Radio Brockley Wins HBA Gold For Alpha Sessions Event

Radio Brockley was successful again in the 2019 Hospital Broadcasting Association (HBA) awards, picking up two trophies including Gold in the “Special Event” category. The winning entry showcased highlights from last year’s “Alpha Sessions 10” event – hosted by Emma Joyce with support from the regular team of Alan Joyce and Ron Laver. However many other members turned out to support the event including Sophie Horrocks, Keith Reeve, Swathi Sivanesan, Sue Weston, Neil Boyt, Martin Gold, David Rauch and Marge Walker.

Nineteen amazing acts gave up their time for free to support the event – all of them having previously appeared on the show which has now welcomed well over 100 guests. You can watch the sessions if you missed them on our YouTube channel at the following link:

Meanwhile Kate Beatty also won an excellent bronze award in the “Best Newcomer” category, which included her work on Thursday Live and Brockley News. The judges commented “It Felt like a chat with an old friend. They described Debra’s content as relatable to the patients and her style is really natural”
