Radio Brockley’s 60th Birthday Schedule Announced
Radio Brockley will be marking its birthday with a special 3 days of live broadcasts in October. London’s longest-running hospital radio station, which is also the longest running independent radio station in London, will celebrate its 60th birthday on Friday 2nd October.
Presenters and volunteers from the last 60 years will be coming back to present special programmes across the three days, including founder member Barry Cobden, who will be presenting a special show on Friday 2nd on the 60th anniversary of the exact moment the station first went on air, in a disused air-raid shelter in the grounds of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
We will also be welcoming back a number of guests who have since gone on to present full time for radio and TV stations across the UK including the BBC, LBC, Sky News and CNN.
We will also have a special weekend of live music, as the award-winning new music show Alpha Sessions also marks 18 years on Radio Brockley. A number of its guest hosts and artists have agreed to come back and perform especially for Radio Brockley’s celebrations.
