RNOH Barbara Bus Fund celebrates 50 years
The Barbara Bus Fund, a charity based at the RNOH, is celebrating 50 years of service this year. The charity provide a fleet of specially adapted vehicles which enable wheelchair users to travel without having to transfer from their wheelchair.
The charity was set up by ex-RNOH patient Barbara Werndly back in 1968, and she continue to run the Fund from her bed at the RNOH until she sadly passed away in 1995.
Shortly afterwards, her nephew Richard Holland MBE took over as Chairman of the charity. He was awarded the MBE for his services to the charity back in 2016.
