Radio Brockley Marks VE Day Anniversary With Special Programmes
Radio Brockley is providing a day of special programmes today (Friday 8th May) to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day.
With thanks to Absolute Radio 40s – a pop-up station launched by Absolute Radio to mark the anniversary – and an agreement with the Hospital Broadcasting Association, patients across the country are able to celebrate VE Day with a special 4 hour programme with special news bulletins, compelling stories and music of the time. The programme will be broadcast in full on Radio Brockley today between 2-6pm.
Absolute Radio’s Content Director, Paul Sylvester said he was “delighted we managed to get #absoluteradio40s to every Hospital Radio station so the elderly and poorly don’t miss out on VE Day”
We will also have a number of other special programmes across the day, including an extended mix of music from the era from 10am (including a 2 minutes silence at 11am).
The day is then rounded off by our weekly news update from the RNOH at 6pm, which this week features Jon Berry, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the hospital.
